| Lady Astarte Carson June 1982 to 18th February 2000 |
| Today Lady died in my arms at just after 2pm, on the sofa in the sitting room, at the age of 17 1/2. She hadn't eaten for the last couple of days and had been just waiting for the end. Most of the time, she chose to sit in the bath. Today, she could barely walk and it was clear we had no choice. She spent almost all the morning in my arms. The vet was kind enough to come here and give her a lethal injection in her tummy. She died in seconds as I whispered "Goodbye Lady, I love you."
We all cried buckets. In the morning, Katharine made a "Momentom" collage with pictures of her and Lady and Nim, with two KidPix pictures she adpated, "chosen by Lady and Nim." On one side she wrote: |
| Lady's picture of the desert called desert. She will see it on the last day she lives, today. |
| I dug a grave and buried Lady in the back garden, next to Bonk, near the apple tree. In her paws, we placed a photograph of herself and Nim, her twin, on the wall at the bottom of the garden, which I laminated to let it last; on the back we had all written messages: |
| Rest in peace. I will remember you. Fiona |
| I love you like the sun, now and always. Jul |

| PS. Let Lady hold this picture forever through wind and rain and all the time let her hold it. From the day you died onwards hold this picture and take the kisses I give XXXXX |
