Stumbled upon your site quite by accident and loved it! One question - do you know of any web sites that show how to make a woggle?

I'm an assistant Scoutmaster with Troop 40 in New Jersey. Your section on knots is great! I have told members of our Troop about it - some of the younger boys have problems with knots. I wonder if you are required to know the same ones as we? Yours in scouting, Toby Duffell P.S. Do any of your Troop visit the US? It would be interersting if you could give a talk on the defferences, and what you get up to in Brighton.

Very nice page! I am the Scoutmaster for "2nd Brighton Scout Troop" located in Brighton, Ontario, Canada. I was surfing the web looking for reference material on knots, and was quite surprised & pleased to find such a great website from another "Brighton" Scout group. I'll be encouraging my troop to check-out your site, as I'm trying to spark an interest in getting my guys to design their own webpage. Keep up the excellent work.

I was surfing through some scouting pages and came across yours. I just had to tell you how impressed I am with them and with what your troop has done. I am an Eagle Scout, myself, and was fascinated with your animation pages that demonstrate how to tie knots. I have book marked your page and am going to use it for future reference as I am involved with scouting here.

The obvious success of boy-leadership in your scout and venture groups is impressive to me. I have been Troop Committee Chair or Scoutmaster for the last ten years at Troop 24 of Larchmont United Methodist Church here in Norfolk. We are still working on raising the opportunities and lowering the obstacles (usually adults stepping in when they shouldn't) for boys to "do their own thing". Web publishing seems likely to start as yours did, with the special interest and dedication of a single scout. Then, how did you spread it to others? Note: Sadly, Troop 24 is not on the above link for our Council's page.

Your web page is well presented and a good model for other troops. Our troop, troop 800, has recently set up a site at http//www.raymondmaine.org/community_organizations/boy_scouts/default.htm . We hope you will visit our site. I am a former Eagle scout who until recently had not given back my time or talent to scouting. Scouting in our area has as much or more relevence today than it did 30 years ago when I was a boy scout. Teenagers need challenge, inspiration, outing, belonging. For these reasons I am devoting my time now to build a troop. Great Job on your web page! Jay Peterson,SM

Great site. A credit to the authors, they will do well in this Internet age. I was Queen Scout (1958), and have many happy memories of those days. Our troop's technolgy achievement was to make a color movie (in 1947) The authors if this site are right up there with the times. The knots page is brilliant. Only beef is that you show a sheepshank, and suggest it is useful. I learned it 50 years ago, and have never used it, whereas all the other knots I learned in Scouts ahve been useful.

I am a former member of the United States Air Force, seven years. I recently got out of the service and am now working as an electrical tech in the Marshalls. I have never been a scout and I was checking out your animated knots web page, great work. I was also looking at your scout quiz and learned how to find south using my watch (cool!). I'm interested in camping, so I will continue to search for cool tips and scouting knowledge. Have a great day.

This is an excellent site and I plan to let my local troop know about it. They are Newport Troop 696. I have been involved in Scouting as both a Scout and an adult since 1957. That's 42 years of great memories. I met several English Scouts at the World Jamboree at Farragut State Park, Idaho, in 1967. Did anyone in your area also attend this jamboree? One of my all time highlights was meeting Lady Baden Powell at the jamboree. Feel free to e-mail me if you get a chance. Sincerely, Bill Gee

Hi! Very interested to see that my old Troop is on the net. I was a member (patrol Leader of the Gannets) in about 1960. Phil Ragden was the Leader, assisted by Toby. I think that Ron Burton was the DC. His Son Richard was in the same troop, as was Hughie Jones, Ken Stanford, Andrew Workman, Roger Copper (his Dad had a pub in Rottingdean), Ian Radford, Derek Hitchen, "Rocky" (Keith Rockliffe?), and I seem to remember, my old mate Doug d'Enno's younger brother, Ian Mould. Aplogies for anyone whom I may have forgotten. Andrew ("Snowy") Noble was also a member of thr troop - I went on my Venturer's hike with him. I was a Scout Leader in New Zealand for a few years, but am not currently involved in the movement. Best Wishes and keep up the good work! Roy Watson Brisbane Australia

Please Enter Any Comments You Have About this WebsiteI just loved the knot pages. I am Cub Leader & a Scout Leader. My son has just completed his last year at the Troop Level and will be going to Venturers in September '97. My daughter is in her 3rd year of Cubs. From reading your page it seems that you have different age groups than we do. In Canada, our Beavers are 5-7, Cubs are 8-10, Scouts 11-13, Ventureres 14-16\17. Scouts can stay a fourth year if they wish. We also have Rovers. It also appears that your scouting year is differnt than ours. We go fromSeptember to June.I have found that some of your terminology is strange and in a few instances have not been able to figure out the meaning.I would be pleased to hear from any Scouter or youth to exchange ideas, hints etc. I would really appreciate some NEW games for urban scouting youth who seem to find boredom very easily in gamesand have not had to learn how to alleviate the boredom on a personl basis.
