Current Holders of the Patrol Shield: The Kestrels
| Programme for March | Karl and David Join The Troop | |

Welcome to Karl Ghamsari and
David Timmins, up from the Seeonee Cubs and invested on
the 14th February, 1997. Their investitures coincided with the first formal building of the new Cub 'scout Bridge - a little nervousness showed - far too much chat for a "silent exercise" but all went well. The Leaders would like to thank the troop for the work they put into this and the PLC for their development work. On the same night we had a visit from 3 Scouts and two Leaders from the 23rd Brighton - our neighbours down at Rottingdean and the nearest Troop in the District. A game with the 23rd and the Seeonee Cubs had the added attraction of Cub Leader Emma demonstrating her athletic prowess as the rear wheel of a bus. The 23rd Leaders, John and Brian, contributed a Morse code activity and Dick and Tony supervised the construction and racing of some Pharaoh's Chairs. The evening was rounded off with the dreaded Zone Gamel It must have been an exhausting evening - some scouts were seen to walk unaided into zone 1 for a rest. There is a return visit from us to the 23rd planned - something rather special on the cards for this one! |
Dartmoor. A large contingent of the 42nd Including 2 Leaders and a GSL attended the Scout Fellowship Dartmoor Walking Weekend. When a certain twin was asked what he enjoyed most about Dartmoor, he was heard to mutter something about a dump. We have since learned that he was not criticising the scenery, merely confirming the rumour that he had added to it. Tragic Loss! During a recent snap First Aid Exercise, we only lost one patient we prefer scouts NOT to attempt to put people suffering from broken necks into the recovery position! District Cross Country Junior Team Trophy. This is now engraved with "1997 - 42nd Brighton" and has been passed to Steven Mather for a month. Other members of the team should have it for a month each. Steven gets it first because he was the lowest placing In our VICTORIOUS TEAMI The next lowest should have it for next month. |
