Southdown Country Fair

Every year the Scout Troop supplies a team of "ring stewards" for the Southdown Country Fair at Firle Place. This year we were a bit thin on the ground due to last minute practice for the Baker's Dozen Hike. However, we managed to assemble a dozen scouts ready, willing and able and off we set early on Sunday morning. The weather forecast was grim - belts of belting rain and little else. We were presented with control of Rings One ,Two and Four. All the action was in Ring One and, by lunchtime, we were only working in that ring. Horses knocked jumps down, scouts put them up!

The major miracle of the day was that the rains did not come! It threatened - but stayed away. After the jumping finishes we normally help with clearing away the jumps. This year the Fair was so short of support that we did the entire "clearaway" unaided! And those jumps can be very awkward and heavy!

Well done, 42nd! You all worked extremely hard and willingly.

Bakers Dozen Hike

Preparations have been going on for some weeks now - practice hikes and camps galore! The Hike takes place on Saturday 5th July and finishes on the 6th. The Best of Luck to our two teams, led by Andrew Ruck and Paul Bevan.

Saltdean School Summer Fair

A team of scouts are helping out on Saturday 5th July at the School Fair. Anyone who has not got their name down for it - see Phil Bartley who is taking charge of this activity. Always a worthwhile activity, helping to put up decorations, put out chairs and stalls and even assist withthe running of some! Make a point of getting on this one if you can!

Summer Camp

Summer Camp starts on the night of Friday 25th July with a kit inspection and sleepover at the Hut. We shall be leaving first thing the following morning for Pinsent Scout Camp Site on Teg Down.

Summer Break

Troop nights will cease during August BUT the Hut will be open on Friday nights and a Leader will be present if you want to attend!
