The Kennet & Avon Canal

September 2004 saw us embarking on the Narrowboat Foxhunter, a slightly topical name that bearing in mind all the political shinnanigans going on at the time over HM Government's efforts to ban foxhunting - but that's another story and not one I intend to delve into here! Somehow I can't help but feel it'll all end in tears.

Anyway, we hired Foxhunter, a 68ft narrowboat from Foxhangers at Devizes - the yard is actually at the very foot of the Caen Hill locks - in Wiltshire. None of the crew had "done" any of the K&A by boat - although some of us had walked various sections going back to the time before restoration.

Devizes to Bath

Pictures of the River Avon section and Bristol Docks will be posted shortly.
